Determination of some physio-mechanical properties of lamas and enterdonat lemon varieties

In this study, some physico-mechanical properties of Lamas and Enterdonat lemon varieties for post-harvest technology were investigated. For this purpose; size and shape properties (length, width, thickness, geometric mean diameter, surface area, sphericity, shape index, aspect ratio, mass, volume and mass density), fruit skin color properties (L, a, b and color index) and mechanical (strength) properties (burst: compression, penetrating tip, loading-unloading and skin strength tests) were measured. In addition, the effects of variety, friction surface and sliding speed on the static and dynamic coefficients of friction were also investigated. According to the results of the research, it was determined that the difference between the average shape and size characteristics of Lamas and Enterdonat lemon varieties, except for shape index and aspect ratio, was significant at the level of 1% and 5%. The difference between L, a, b and color index value averages, which were color characteristics, was also significant at the level of 1% and 5% for Lamas and Enterdonat lemon varieties. In the evaluation on the mechanical properties of lemon varieties, it was concluded that the difference between the variety averages was statistically significant, especially in the puncture test and the peel tensile resistance tests, and the difference between the varieties was insignificant in the burst (compression) and loading-unloading tests. Regarding the friction properties, it was determined that the variety, friction surface and sliding speed were effective on the static and dynamic coefficients of friction, and especially the change in the friction surface and sliding speed affected both the static and dynamic coefficients of friction.
