An alternati̇ve method of umbilical trocar site closure in laparoscopic cholecystectomy

In this study, 100 laparoscopic cholecystectomy were performed in patients with symptomatic cholelithiasis. Trocar site was closrd manually in the traditional way in group A (n=50). In Group B, umbilical site closure was performed with Berci needle (n=50).The effects of closure method with Berci needle on intraoperative, early and late postoperative complications, trocar site closure time and safety of this method was evaluated. Umbilical trocar site closure time was shorter in Group B(P=0.0005). Early postoperative complications were observed more frequent in Group B(P=0.003). There was no difference in intraoperative and late postoperative complications between the two groups. There was no mortality in both groups.
