Özet (EN)
Apparent molar volumes (V) and viscosities of lauric, palmitic and stearic acids at 20, 30, 40 and 60 °C in 2-butanol have been determined. Apparent molar volumes of fatty acid solutions were obtained from the densities measured using picnometers and viscosities of the same solutions were obtained from the measured flow times of solutions using Cannon Fenske type viscometers. The apparent molar volumes at infinite dilution ((^>v°) were determined by extrapolation of graph of <&v versus concentration to zero concentration. The variation of both 3>v° and viscosity values with temperature and with chain length of fatty acid was interpreted in terms of solute-solvent interactions. Furthermore, the variation of viscosities of solutions with temperature was treated according to an Arrhenius type of equation and activation energies for viscous flow of solutions were tried to be determined. The result of viscosities and apparent molar volumes as a function of temperature and concentration are given in graphical and tabular forms. Key words: Fatty acids, lauric acid, palmitic acid, stearic acid, viscosity, apparent molar volume. COMMİTTEE: Prof. Dr. Erol Ayranci (Adviser) Prof. Dr. Tevfik Bardakçı Prof. Dr. Suphi Kormalı n
