Examination of LEED certificate evaluation criteria within the scope of architectural design and implementation processes

In this study, studies were carried out on the factors that will provide energy and environmental protection in green buildings with sustainable design in Turkey and the issues to be considered in the design and construction process. In order to obtain the LEED certificate, which was created to be given to the buildings in question, the important parts that LEED evaluators paid attention to in the scoring were discussed in order to improve the applicability of the preparations made during the construction and design phase and to make them understandable, and researches were carried out to fulfill the evaluation criteria. In the study, primarily the concepts of sustainability and sustainable architecture and their requirements were studied. Afterwards, Green building certificates were mentioned and the LEED certificate system, which is the most preferred system in our country, was examined. Each of the LEED criteria was examined in detail and explained in terms of gaining LEED certification system degrees and the points to be considered in the scoring process. In particular, it was pointed out how the certification and quality control mechanism studies should be carried out so that LEED evaluators could follow the work done on behalf of LEED in the projects, and how the scoring criteria would be fulfilled both in the design and construction phases. Considering the internationally valid LEED certification system, a research was conducted on the issues to be considered in the evaluation, certification and classification phases of candidate buildings and the applicability of the relevant criteria. As a result of the research, it was seen that the quality control & quality assurance mechanism was required in the construction site and during the project phase while designing and implementing by sticking to the scoring criteria. In this context, it has been seen that the LEED certification process is directly related to the creation of the project archive and the implementation of quality management in the field. As a result of the analyzes and studies carried out, the management of the quality documents in question during the certification process of the candidate projects was described.
