The world of i̇deas i̇n Letâi̇f-i̇ Ri̇vâyât

The literary works of the Tanzimat reform era are considered to be one of the tools for contributing to public enlightenment on a wide spectrum of issues. Therefo¬re, it was inevitable that the writers pursued the public matters in their writings since these works embodied so many ideas to convey to public. Ahmet Mithat Efendi, a writer who lived during the Tanzimat era, inspired the public with his works. The writer's Letaif-i Rivâyât, which contains twenty nine sto-ries and a theater, addresses its period and surpasses it with its ideas, enlightens the public on diverse topics. In this thesis, various ideas which are related to the concepts of education, women, slavery, personal freedom, economics, family life etc. will be presented, as comprised in the series of stories in Letaif-i Rivâyât.
