Legal responsibilities of port operators arising from the provision of stevedoring, warehousing, pilotage and towage services

In our study named Legal Responsibilities of Port Operators Arising from the Provision of Stevedoring, Warehousing, Pilotage and Towage Services, the services provided by port operators— who are vital to our country and among the greatest actors in international trade and therefore have a direct impact on the country's economic structure—and their legal status, obligations and responsibilities arising during the provision of these services are discussed. In this capacity, the emphasis has been placed on ports' historical development and types of ports in the first section of our study. In the second section, technical aspects of stevedoring, warehousing, pilotage and towage services, which are the fundamental services provided by port operators have been discussed. In the third section, the emphasis has been laid on the contracts drawn by port operators during the provision of stevedoring, warehousing, pilotage and towage services and the operators' responsibilities and obligations to their customers that arise during the provision of these services. In the fourth section, the liability of port operators to third parties that have been harmed during the provision of stevedoring, warehousing, pilotage and towage services and the issue of whether the port operators hold the right to be excluded from the carrier's unlimited liability and has the right to seek the benefit of limited liability in cases where it is vested with the title of carrier's assistant. In the fifth section, the legal restrictions on port operators' during the determination of port service rates. In the conclusion section of our study, our findings following our research and evaluation on the subject are discussed.
