Abstract (EN)
Intensity Modulated Radiotherapy (IMRT) technique is an important ionizing radiation technique in today's modern cancer therapy. The IMRT technique consists of multiple subfields using X-ray energies. Although the dose defined in the target volume in the IMRT and conventional techniques is exactly the same, the main objective of the IMRT technique is primarily to reduce dose in the surrounding robust tissues. Besides the conventional quality control tests and quality assurance of the Linear Accelerator, there are additional recommendations based on IMRT. This study investigated the relative dose distributions of 6 MV energy X rays with the intensities to be obtained in Elekta brand Synergy Platform model linear accelerator. The OmniPro software-based measurement system were used for dosimetric process with Gafchromic EBT3 films by the Epson brand Expression 11000 XL scanner and iba brand Matrixx two dimension array (2D) ion chambers. OmniPro software was used for 2D gamma analysis as a method of dose and position analysis. As a result of all different quality control tests made, Gafchromic EBT3 film was found to be superior both in terms of resolution and inexpensiveness. This study was conducted at the Antalya Training and Research Hospital Radiation Oncology Unit.
