Abstract (EN)
In this study, linear and non-linear consolidation theory were compared.Oedometer tests were done on soil sample and the theoretical results are alsocompared with those obtained from experimental investigations. The assumption of constant value for coefficient of consolidation, Cv duringconsolidation process is one of the major limitations in Terzaghi?s theory. Aparameter Cc/M, representing the nonlinearity in the compresibility and permabilitybehavior, is found to play a significant role in deciding the rate of the consolidationprocess.
