Student opinions on the use of technology and its effects in undergraduate art education

This study, which was prepared in order to obtain an opinion on the subject by considering the effects of situations of the students' being affected who receive art (painting-work) education, was designed using the qualitative research method and the phenomenological pattern was used in the research. The scope of the research consists of 8 students in total, 4th grade students studying at Gazi University, Fine Arts Education Department, Department of Painting Education. When the findings of the research are evaluated, it is understood that students generally consider their own interests and creativity in their studies, but they are shaped in the technology environment as required by the age we live in. As a result of the research, it was concluded that the use of technology has negative effects on the thinking skills and perception levels of students who receive art education. Another result is; There are contradictory situations between art education and technology possibilities. Art education aims to develop students' intellectual skills, to expand their world of meaning, to gain an intellectual perspective and to make their productivity effective in this context. The use of technology in art education, on the other hand, can invite individuals to consume more by undertaking their intellectual skills and creativity.It is alarming that the individual makes consumption a habit, the products are readily available, and the studies need to be shaped in this context. It seems inevitable that art education, which has been included in the technology environment and has become a part of the consumption wheel, attempts to imitate and copy as a result of situations such as the same of the thinking skills of its student and the wearing out of its creative identity. As a result, it is thought that the use of technology only as a tool positively affects the production of art or many creative skills intended to be developed, while the adoption of the concept of purpose instead of the tool concept may negatively affect the resulting art productions to acquire the intended creative, critical, and intellectual thinking skills. In this case, these two concepts, which are used interchangeably, are effective on the results that may arise.
