Abstract (EN)

The main purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between the childhood traumas, loneliness level and the internet addiction in a sample of high school students. Literature survey and questionnaire methods are used together in the study. Personal information form, Childhood Negligence Scale, Loneliness Scale and Problematic Internet Use Scale have been used in the study. The questionnaires have been applied to 400 high school students. The results showed that the loneliness perceptions of the male students are higher than female students. According to the results there is a positive relationship between the internet addiction of high school students and their sense of loneliness. One of the main conclusions reached in the study is that loneliness is one of the determinants of internet addiction. Furthermore, a negative relationship between childhood traumas and loneliness has determined in the study. As a result, problematic internet use in high school students is related to the sense of loneliness rather than childhood neglect.
