Examination of the relationship between psychological wellbeing, perceived social support and risky behaviors in high school students

Abstract (EN)

In this study, the relationship between perceived social support, psychological well-being and risky behaviors in high school students was examined. The study examined whether students' perceived social support, psychological well-being and risky behaviors differ according to demographic variables. The study group consists of 715 volunteer students who continue their education, education institutions in Elazig in the 2022-2023 academic years. Risky Behaviors, Perceived Social Support, Psychological Well-Being Scale and personal information form were used to collect data. Mann Whitney U, Kruskal-Wallis, Spearman Rank Correlation Test and Regression Analysis were used in the analysis of the data obtained from the study. As a result of the analyzes, it was determined that the total and sub-dimension scores of students perceived social support, psychologıcal well-beın, risky bebehavior differed significantly according to gender, school type and class level. It has been determined that there is a high level of negative and significant relationship between the level of perceived social support and psychological well-being of the students and the level of risky behaviors. Regression analysis, it was seen that perceived social support and psychological well-being were significant predictors of the risky behaviors variable.
