This is an axperimental research which was carried out to analyze the effectsof vocational group-counselling and the sex on the perceived interest, ability andvalues areas of the high school students. The research was done on 64 subjects ( 32 female, 32 male) both from thefirst and the third classes who volunteered in the project from Sincan İbni Sina HighSchool Ankara, in 2004-2005 school year. The independent variables of the researchis vocational group-counselling. Perceived interest, ability and values areas whichare the dependent variables of the research were determined by means of Self-Assesment Inventory. Different groups and two control groups in equal numbers andin equal score averages with respect to the pretest scores they have obtained from theinstrument . In addition, the mean scores of the groups were controlled by a ?t? testand no significant difference was seen between the experiment and control groups.Pretest- post-test experiment and control group pattern was designed, (in theresearch). Group-counselling was applied to the experiment for 11 weeks using theinteraction principles and techniques of the behavioristic and humanistic approach. After the application, the data collection means which were given at the beginning ofthe counseling were regiven(reused). The F- test (manifold variance analysis) was used to test the diferencesbetween post-test, pre-test difference averages of the scores that female and malestudents who had had vocational group-counseling and who had not have obtainedfrom data collection instruments, and to test the difference between the students whohad vocational counseling and who did not. In the research the least error ratic wasaccepted as 0,05. The significant findings obtained from the research are summarizedas follows;1.The influence of the vocational group-counselling on mathematical interestfield of three perceived fields has been found out at a significant level (p < 0,05). Thevinfluence of the sex on shap-space interest field has also been found out at asignificant level (p < 0,05).2. It has been discovered that the group-vocational counselling has noinfluence on the perceived eleven fields (p>0,05). Only the influence of the sex onthe mechanical interest has been found out at a significant level.3.It has been found out that vocational group-counselling does not have effecton perceived any of nine values. In the light of these findings, it has been concluded that vocational group-counselling is much more effective in the perceived interest but is not effective inperceived values field, and essential proposals have been offered on the basis of thisconclusion.
