Abstract (EN)

In this research, whether self-esteem and social anxiety levels of high school students differentiate or not with respect to some socio-demographic variables and the relationship between self-esteem and social anxiety levels have been studied. The universe of this study is students who study at the Giresun Religious High School in Giresun province. This study was conducted on sample group which are 300 students,150 female and 150 male. In this study, Coopersmith Self Esteem Inventory" and "Social Anxiety Scale" together with a 10 questions socio-demographic information form were implemented on students. As results of the study the following conclusions are found. It is determined that there is a significant difference between students' self-esteems depending on their ages, their families' economic conditions and their fathers' educational backgrounds. It has been observed that there's a negative meaningful relationship between self- esteem and social-anxiety. As self-esteem increases, social anxiety decreases. As social anxiety levels of students increase, their self-esteem levels decrease.
