Abstract (EN)

Factors Affecting the Leisure Time Activities of High School Students: The study in Yenimahalle District of Ankara Province was carried out with a total of 400 students studying in 4 public high schools. In the study where the general screening method was used, data were collected by face-to-face interviews with the participants and using the survey technique. 26 questions were asked regarding the socio-demographic and socio-cultural characteristics of the participants and a 36-item Leisure Time Attitude Scale was applied. Data were processed in SPSS and results were interpreted. Pierre Bourdieu's concept of habitus was taken as the reference theory of the study. In the context of Bourdieu's theory, this study aimed to evaluate the factors affecting the leisure activities of high school students. In line with these aims, in the second part of the study, the concept of time and leisure are defined and the historical development of free time, its functions, evaluation, factors affecting its evaluation and factors that prevent participation in leisure activities are examined. Then, Pierre Bourdieu and his sociology were explained and the concepts of habitus, field and capital, which are influential in habitus theory, were evaluated. Finally, the factors affecting leisure activities are explained within the scope of Pierre Bourdieu's habitus theory. As a result of the analysis, the leisure attitudes of the participants were determined by where they lived during high school, where they stayed during high school, where their families lived, their monthly income during their education, mother's education level, father's education level, mother's profession, father's profession, the type of travel they like, the type of music they like, It has been determined that there are no statistically significant differences according to the variables of the people they spend their free time with, the activity they spend most of their time in during the day, the adequacy of their free time, daily TV watching and the type of books they read. It was concluded that the averages of leisure attitudes differ significantly according to the variables of household monthly income, daily free time, frequency of reading books, sports branch of interest, gender, age, type of high school attended and income level.
