Examining the relationship between financial literacy levels and digital literacy levels of high school students

In this study, it was aimed to determine the financial and digital literacy levels of high school students and the relationship between these levels, and with the results obtained from the field research, it was aimed to benefit students by helping them understand the importance of these skills in both their personal and professional lives. Digital Literacy Scale, Financial Literacy Scale and Personal Information Form were used. The study was conducted with 585 vocaitonal high school students studying in high schools in Çankaya Yenimahalle, Keçiören, Altındağ, Mamak, Elmadağ, Pursaklar, Etimesgut, Sincan, Polatlı,Bala and Haymana, districts of Ankara with different socio-economic levels. The data obtained was analyzed in the IBM SPSS 22 statistical program. Descriptive statistical analyses, independent samples T test, ANOVA analysis and correlation analysis were applied on the data determined to comply with normal distribution. According to the results obtained; Students' digital literacy levels, money management self-efficacy perceptions and money management behavior levels, which are among the financial literacy dimensions, were determined to be high, but their financial knowledge levels were determined to be low. It was determined that financial knowledge levels differ significantly depending on age and grade levels. In addition, money management self-efficacy perceptions, one of the dimensions of financial literacy, differ significantly according to average age, class and pocket money level; It was determined that there was a significant relationship between digital literacy levels and money management behaviors, but there was no significant relationship between other variables. As a result of the study, various suggestions were developed for researchers, teachers, and students in order to increase students' digital and financial literacy levels.
