The relations between high school students' use of language learning strategies and their self efficacy beliefs

The aim of this research is to examine the relations between use of language learning strategies and self efficacy beliefs of high school students. For this purpose,the sample of the study consisted of 504 high school students, studying at 11th grade during 2016-2017 Academic year at a total of 6 Anatolian High schools in Bolu. The data was compiled through the students ''foreign language learning strategies scale ''developed by Oxford(1990) and adapted to Turkish by Cesur and Fer (2007). The data was compiled through the students self efficacy beliefs were collected through ''Self efficacy beliefs scale''developed by Bümen and Yanar(2012).It was found that ; High school students'use of language learning strategies is moderate and The students'self- efficacy beliefs for English is low. The findings reveal a positive and strong relationship between language learning and self efficacy beliefs. Directions for future studies were also discussed in the study.
