Abstract (EN)
This research focuses on determining the meanings of fate beliefs of high school students and their meanings related to fate related concepts (Death and Life, Sustenance, Natural Disasters, Good and Evil, Health and Disease, Salvation and Heresy, Exam, Pray and Trust in God). At the same time, the meanings of high school students on the concept of fate have been examined in terms of various variables (gender, high school type, class level, socio-economic level, parental education status and who contributes most to religious education). The sample of the study consisted of Science High School, Anatolian High School, Vocational High School and Imam Hatip High School students in the province of Iskenderun, Hatay. A total of 624 students were chosen randomly from 9, 10, 11 and 12th grade students in these high schools. There is no comprehensive measurement tool in the area of Kalam. Therefore, in order to determine the meanings of fate of high school students and their meanings related to fate related to this belief, the opinion of expert academicians in their field were taken and the questions prepared by the researcher were applied. In order to measure demographic information of high school students, Demographic Information Form developed by the researcher was used. Demographic Information Form includes questions about gender, education level of parents, grade level, socio-economic level, consists of questions regarding the factors that most influence the type of school and religious education. As a result of the analysis; the meanings of high school students on the concepts of fate and destiny differ significantly in terms of gender, maternal educational level, father's education level, high school type, and grade level. In terms of gender, it is seen that male students have a pre-appreciated, fatalistic understanding and female students have Ehli Sünnet fatalistic understanding. When the education of parents is evaluated, as the education level of the mother and father increases, they avoid fatalistic understanding and they approach an understanding of human will and responsibility. On the other hand, the statistical analysis data showed that the meaning of high school students on the concept of fate did not differ according to their socio-economic levels. In terms of high school types; İmam Hatip high school students have a classical fate understanding compared to other high school students, the perception of fate of the vocational high school students is in parallel with the Cebriyye sect, science high school students apart from fateful understanding, have an understanding that brings the human will to the forefront. In addition, there are some deficiencies in some concepts that make up the belief of fate in science high school students. Considering the class level; as the class level increases, it is seen that the understanding that there is a fate of disasters is abandoned and age differences among young people create differences in the perception of fate. Findings showed that the most contribution to religious education was made by family members with a rate of 94.8% and the remaining 5.2% is religious culture and ethics courses and religious officials.
