Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to examine the effects of high school students' attitudes towards sports on the quality of school life and subjective well-being. Additionally, the study determined the students' levels of quality of school life, subjective well-being, and attitudes towards sports according to their gender, active sports participation, family support, participation in sports competitions, finding school sports opportunities sufficient, and school success. The correlational screening method was used in the study. The study sample consisted of 578 high school students studying in the Efeler district of Aydın. The "Adolescent Subjective Well-being Scale," the "Attitude Towards Sports Scale," and the "High School Quality of Life Scale" were used as data collection tools. For data analysis, arithmetic mean and standard deviation were used to determine the levels of students' scale scores according to variables such as gender, active sports participation, family support, participation in sports competitions, finding school sports opportunities sufficient, and school success. Independent t-test and One-way ANOVA analysis were conducted to determine whether there were differences in scale scores. A Pearson correlation multiplication test was conducted to determine the relationship between students' quality of school life, subjective well-being, and their attitude scores toward sports. Additionally, multiple linear regression analysis was used to determine whether students' attitude scores toward sports predicted quality of school life and subjective well-being. The study found that the students had high subjective well-being scores, high interest in sports scores, moderate sports-related living scores, moderate sports engagement scores, and moderate school life quality scores. Differences were found in students' subjective well-being, attitudes toward sports, and quality of school life scores based on variables such as gender, active sports participation, family support, participation in sports competitions, finding school sports opportunities sufficient, and academic success. A significant relationship was found between attitudes toward sports and quality of school life and subjective well-being scores. Additionally, students' attitudes toward sports have been shown to positively impact their quality of school life and subjective well-being. Consequently, physical activity is crucial for improving students' quality of school life and subjective well-being.
