Özet (EN)
This research is a descriptive study aming the search of whether perceived self-esteem o high school 1. and 2.year students change in terms o sex, leel of social concerns and academic achievement level. This study includes 1. and 2.year students of Çankaya and Keçiören high schools in Ankara from the high schools stated above. A group o 500 students have been randomly chosen, using random selection method. Self-esteem which is dependent variability of the research is measured by Coopersmith Self-Esteem Iventory which is sophisticated by Coopersmith and translated into Turkish by Turan and Tufan (1987) and the level of social concerns which is independent variability of the research is measured by Self-Evolution Inentory in Social Notion which is sophisticated by Liebowite (1985) and translated into Turkish by Gümüş (1997). Information forms have been used to speciy the sex and academic achievement level of each student. The subjects of the experiment have been sorted into groups and then the average values and the standart deviations of them hae been calculated from the present dat. In the prevence of two groups T-test has been used. Fo more than two groups one-sides variance analysis (F-test) has been preferred. The level of meaningfulness has been chosen as ?=0.05. The results of the study show that, Self-Esteem Levels of high school 1. and 2.year students are consistent with their academic achieements. F(2/296)=23.44, p<0.01. The source of the differences between low and middle (Tk=4.441 p<0.05), middle and high (Tk=4.012 p<0.05) and finally low and high (Tk=9.591 p<0.05) academic achievement have been stated as important. Students with higher academic achievement have higher self perseption points. The increase in academic achievement results in the increase of self respect levels of the students. The perceived self-respect rates of 1. and 2.high school students with low social concerns (t=8.1110 p<0.001) have high self respect rates. Students with low social concerns level have high self-respect level. However, the perceied self respect levels (t=1.528 p<0.05) of the students showed no differences according to their sexes. According to the result of research it is determined that self consept levels of high school first and second class students have nothing to do with their gender but it is related with their social trouble and academic success levels.
