Ideological editing of high school sociology coursebooks by governments (a comparative analysis between 1950-2012)

This study aims to find out whether the content/discourse of corsebooks change according to the governments within the frame of Education-Ideology relationship. In this context, a total of 7 different periods -1950 to 2012, 1950 to 1960, 1960 to 1971, 1971 to 1980, 1980 to 1989, 1980 to 1997, 1997 to 2002, and 2002 and later- have been studied primarily on the basis of whether factors such as global changes/ideological tendencies, the governments of our country and their Regulations, Government Programs, changes made in Education, discourse of political actors of those periods, declarations in the Bulletin of Communiqué and by National Security Council had impact on the Sociology coursebooks of the related period, and if they did, to what extent that impact was. The study concluded that the developments throughout the world (Bi-polar World, Green Belt Project, tendency to EU, etc.) have affected the governments in Turkey and their discourse; and accordingly, the governments reflected both global developments and their own ideological tendencies on coursebooks. This reflection has been observed as the teaching of a specific subject in a different manner in different periods. In conclusion, Political Power rebuilds Education through their own coursebooks
