Abstract (EN)

In this research, the reflections of Ottoman Modernization Process to the high school history textbooks have been studied. Ottoman Modernization Process consisted of XVII. XVIII. and XIX centuries reform movements. But, the real Modernization Process was happened in the years of 1789-1918. The reason of this, more fundamental reforms, like Western, was made in these years.The Ottoman Empire, lived in the years of 1299-1922, made efforts to renovation not only own internal dynamic but also influenced from Europe after 1718. Studying past periods modernization movements is important to seeing the point which defines State?s modernization process is where and taking right decisions. History education and teaching are important about grow individuals who are working for convey his/her country to modern civilization level and can establish relationship between past and future and can understand present.Because of this, the process, in the years of 1789-1918, was studied for a thesis subject to aim of show how was the Ottoman Modernization Process reflections to history textbooks. In this research, the effects and reflections of Ottoman Modernization Process happen in the years of 1789?1918, to History II and History III textbooks which were read in the time of 1976?2003 or are already read present, have been studied. In this study, the literature review was used and document analyze was used for data gathering.In the result of research, It is determined that the Ottoman Modernization Process is not studied in the title of Modernization; it is studied in the title of Reforms and Changes. The concept of Modernization was not given in another title. Authors used same expressions in the textbooks, but they used supportive components lesser.
