SUMMARY Thesis Of High Masters Degree Lobbying, The Formation Of Armenian Diaspora in U.S.A. and The Propaganda and Lobby Which The Armenian Diaspora Carried On B.Taner ŞENER The University of Fırat The Institute of Social Science The Department of History Elazığ - 2004, p: X+505 Towards the latter part of the nineteenth century, the decline of the Ottoman Empire became acute. The expansionist powers, taking advantage of this decline waited impatiently to share the carcass of the dying "Sick Man Of Europe". In order to hasten this demise, they encouraged the growing nationalist movements in that empire. Armenians were the new star of this film as Greeks, Serbs, Bulgarians were before their turn. Like all the other imperialist conutries such as England, France, Russia and Italy, the U.S.A. had also opened consulates in Anatolia besides their commercial ones in the seaport cities of Turkey like İzmir and Istanbul. And the U.S.A. had also sent many missioners to Anatolia to protect and preserve their countries' interest allegedly as her partners had done before. The main aim of the consulates which had been opened in Anatolia and the missioners which had been sent to Eastern Anatolia was the Armenians. With the great help and provocation of these consulates and missioners, Armenians had started to migrate from Anatolia to the U.S.A. and began to form anArmenian lobby that were carrying on antipropaganda against Turks and saying unfounded massacre stories by Turks to Armenians. The impacts of Armenian Lobby in the U.S.A. had caused many unrepairable wound and delayed the start of the diplomatic relations between young Turkish Republic and the U.S.A. The Armenian Lobby had manipulated the American public opinion in favor of the Armenian Question and the U.S. had accomodated the Armenian Question in its foreign policy in favor of its own interest. Besides a summary of Armenian Question, the evolution of Armenian diaspora in the U.S., the first immigration to the U.S., their settlement regions, their population and the social, political and religious structures of this population, the significant Armenian organizations, their aims and activities, the Armenian political activities, their publications and broadcastings; the Armenian churches; The Armenian lobbying activities and the Armenian lobby's effort in the U.S. Congress had been mentioned in detail with an explanatory part about lobby and lobbying in the introduction part in this thesis.
