The effect of changes in the logistics performance index on the product's supply of countries: Analyzing to six countries importing from Turkey

With the rapid development of globalization and technology, competition has increased, and after-sales services have come to the fore along with the product. In this process, logistics has become important for businesses with both its impact on costs and its effective management, customer satisfaction and competitive advantage. Logistics is also of great importance within countries. Strong countries in logistics services gain an advantage in global competition. The logistics performances of the countries are evaluated by the questionnaire applied to the sector representatives by the World Bank. According to the index published under the name of Logistics Performance Index (LPI), countries; It is evaluated in six categories as customs, infrastructure, international shipment, logistics competence, tracking-tracing and timeliness. A country's high LPI score indicates that it is a logistics-friendly country. In addition, this situation provides a great advantage to the country in global competition. In the study, based on the importance of logistics in trade, answers were sought to questions such as how effective the changes in the LPI score are in foreign trade and how they affect product supply. For this purpose, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Algeria and Kenya, which have export potential for Turkey and whose LPI scores were reported between 2007 and 2018, were selected as the countries to be examined. In order to determine the relationship between the LPI score and the product supply, the relationship between the changes in the LPI scores of the countries and the products imported from Turkey was examined. By using the horizontal analysis technique, the change in the products over the years and the change in the LPI score were compared and interpreted using the foreign trade data of the countries. Among the products evaluated according to the LPI sub-categories, the characteristics of the products for which the LPI score was ineffective or had little effect were tried to be determined. As a result of this study, it has been seen that the LPI score does not have a remarkable effect on products where logistics-related problems such as textile products, plastic products, machinery and equipment do not have a significant effect on their lifetime.
