Designing logistics management system through lean thinking and a firm application

Distribution management is a set of activities which includes processes such as transporting, temporary storaging, handling and etc to provide the movement of goods in the supply chain. These activities are the key roles of delivering goods to customers and creates important costs. Increasing the costs of these activities makes companies to improve strategies and methods about distribution management. Key strategy of distribution management is integration activities of supply chain and applying techniques which are designed to decrease costs of these activities. Executing of such a distrubition management in strategic level is concluded more effective with implementations of lean logistic which is a common approach recently. It is possible to designing an economic and qualified distribution management with an integrated system which includes collecting goods from production centers, temporary storage, designing distribution network and delivering goods customer via milk run. As a conclude of such an integrated system, distribution management provides competitive advantage about both costs and quality.The aim of this study is designing a qualified and economic distribution model which includes integrated logistic activities via using lean techniques. In this context, after an entry to the subject in the first part; logistic activities, logistic costs and logistic performance management are explained. In the third part of study, lean logistic concept, principles and relation of waste are emphasized; lean logistic techniques which include integration of distribution management are explained. In the fourth part, vehicle routing problem which is the last level of integration is explained by emphasizing routing components, kinds, optimization constraints. Vehicle routing problem kinds are formulated and solution methods are explained. In the fifth part, a distribution management model designed via emphasizing activities of a 3PL company. In the last part of study, current process and costs of a distribution project is explained which is done in Aras Logistic, designed model implemented to this project and difference is compared. Lingo program is used to implement designed model.
