Abstract (EN)

The process of transferning of blood or its components given by the donor to a patient who has lost his blood for any reason or if any of the blood components is missing called as blood transfusion. The blood taken from a donor is separated its components (platelets, plasma, leukocytes, etc.) by various methods and just the incomplete component of the blood of the patient is transferred. All of the blood components which are prepared by standard techniques have the residues of leukocytes. Studies have shown that leukocytes that are not purified from separated components of the blood have side effects on the patient after transplantation of erythrocyte and platelet components into the patient. Therefore, it is important to remove leukocytes from the components of the blood before transfusion to the patient. In this thesis, production of leucocyte filter which is used for purifying leucocytes from the blood taken from the donor before separation of its components in Kızılay or used for separating leucocytes from the blood during direct transfusion on side while keeping the erythrocyte loss minimum was studied. In this, potential use of filter produced from polyamide polymer by Melt-Blown technique for leukocyte seporation were investigated.
