Abstract (EN)
Aim: To evaluate the effect of music played during lumbar disc herniation surgery on patients' physiological parameters and postoperative pain levels. Material and Method: The study was conducted with 76 patients who underwent lumbar disc herniation surgery and applied to the Brain and Neurosurgery clinic of a state hospital located in the city center of Ordu. It was conducted between April 2023 and August 2023. The data of the study were collected using the Personal Information Form, Visual Pain Scale and Physiological Parameter Chart. The patients in the experimental group listened to Hüseyni makam music for 30 minutes during the intraoperative period. Descriptive statistics were used to evaluate the data, and chi square test and Fisher's Exact Test were used to compare categorical data according to groups. Results: When the mean pain scores before and 15 minutes after surgery were compared; it was found that the mean pain scores of the patients in the experimental and control groups 15 minutes after surgery were significantly lower than before surgery. In the measurement 15 minutes after the awakening unit, it was determined that the mean systolic blood pressure of the patients in the experimental group was lower than that of the patients in the control group and the difference was statistically significant. When the mean respiratory values of the patients were examined before surgery, 10, 20, 30 minutes during surgery and 15 minutes after being taken to the awakening unit; it was determined that the difference in the mean respiratory values of the experimental and control groups (group effect) and the difference in time effect were statistically significant. It was determined that there was a statistically significant difference between the mean saturation values of the patients in the experimental and control groups according to time within the groups, and as a result of the advanced analysis, this difference was between the measurement 15 minutes after surgery and the 10, 20, and 30 minutes during surgery in both the experimental and control groups. Conclusions: It was determined that music listening had a strong effect on reducing pain levels in patients who underwent surgery for lumbar disc herniation compared to the control group. It was determined that the physiological parameters of the patients were more stable in the experimental group compared to the control group.
