This study is a comparative study of the views of Seâlibî and İbn Münkiz. The study relied on the books of these two scholars, called "Lübab el-Âdâb". The study attempted to reveal the foundations applied by both scholars in selecting the poetic and prose references in their books. Here, the study showed the difference between the methods of selecting literary evidence based on poetic purpose, prejudice, or personal opinion. The study also discussed the style of these two scholars in writing, and showed the difference between them in the methods of selecting poetic examples that distinguish between poets. In conclusion, these two books are important in the field of studying poetic evidence. But the literary criticism in Seâlibî's book is better than what is found in İbn Münkiz' book. Because Seâlibî used several methods to compare and choose between poetic texts.
