ABSTRACT This study, has been prepared in order to examine with regards to virture, in can sonance, decumbence theories which are the basic laughing theories of the pleasing book, named Hande, by M. Cemil at the first stage of the study, the work of M. Cemil has been translated into Latin alfhabet. Afterwords, information about laughing theories has been gathered by taking advantage of local and foreign sources. There after, this information has been carelated with jokes which are the humorous reasons of laughing, and general information has been given about jokes. At this stage of our research, since there arent any sources from which we get information about the life of M. Cemil, information about M. Cemil has been given considering his works and the pediod he lived. Superiority of the oldest and most common theory is characterized as a theory of laughter.
