Examination of depression, self-respect and psychological resistance of parents with children aged 18-25 with diagnosis of substance: Mersin AMATEM case

Substance addiction is a habit that causes mental, social and economic problems. The difficulties experienced by parents who have a substance addicted child are generally put in the background. The lives of these people, who can also be described as the silent wing of substance abuse, need to be touched. In this study, depression, self-esteem, stress level and psychological resilience of parents who have children between the ages of 18-25 who were diagnosed with substance abuse were examined according to various variables. These variables are; level of parental intimacy, number of people living at home, duration of patient care, smoking, educational status, job status, suicide attempt, verbal violence against the patient, number of attacks, gender, age and income level. The data obtained in this process were collected after the survey studies and analyzed using the SPSS program. As a result of the findings, depression, self-esteem, stress level and psychological resilience of the parents participating in the study, and the level of closeness of the parents, the number of people living at home, the duration of patient care, smoking, education status, job status, suicide attempt, verbal violence to the patient, the patient The number of attacks, gender, age, income level were compared and a significant difference was found between them. In this study, the results that emerged within the framework of the scales applied to the participants were discussed with the thought that they would contribute to the scientific literature and to raise awareness of the difficulties experienced by the participants.
