Mahmud Tâi b. Muhammed Şerh-i Gülistan 100-150. pages (text and analysis)

The Classical Turkish Literature period began in the late 13th century and continued until the second half of the 19th century. During this period, Turkish literature reached different civilizations thanks to the tradition of commentary. One of the works that was commented on the most during this period was the Gulistan of Sadi-i Shirazi, one of the classics of Persian literature. Mahmud Tai b. Muhammad, who lived in the 19th century, also wrote a commentary on Sadi-i Shirazi's Gulistan, and the entire work consists of 404 pages. However, pages 100-150 of the work are the subject of our study. In our study, the critical text and analysis of this section between the pages are presented. This study consists of an introduction and three main sections. The concept of commentary is briefly mentioned in the introduction, and then information about Sadi-i Shirazi's life and Gulistan is given. In addition, Gulistan commentaries made in Turkish literature are listed and briefly explained. The first section includes information that can be obtained about the author Mahmud Tâî b. Muhammed's life and a general introduction to his work. The subject of the work, the commentary method, and the reason for its compilation are included in this section. The second section includes a detailed examination of the work, which is the subject of the study, in terms of language, style, literary arts, content, religious, historical and cultural emphases. The third section includes the written text of the work. This section includes the methods used in the creation of the text, and the spelling and grammatical features of the text. As a result of the study, the 100-150th pages of a work belonging to a wide range of commentary tradition have been added to the transcription literature and the remaining parts of the work have also been highlighted.
