Abstract (EN)
The aim of this work is to determine and compare the BNDF, CREB, and serum levels of patients and control groups. These two groups are comprised of patients that are known to suffer from biologically induced depression and healthy controlled groups. This was performed on 45 patients on attack period of disease and 43 healthy volunteers, between the ages of 18-65 according to DSM-IV criteria diagnosed with MDD. Serum BDNF and CREB levels were measured using prepared ELISA kits. Consents and Socio-demographic information of all participants were obtained. Patients were evaluated with Hamilton Depression Rating Scale-17 (HDRS), Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HARS), Clinical Global Impression (CGI). For statistical analysis T-test chi-square, Pearson's correlation analysis and one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) were used. In this study, patients and in the control group, there was no significant difference were detected in terms of BDNF and CREB levels. We've detected BDNF and CREB levels have a strong relationship with each other. We found that BDNF and CREB levels have no relationship with sociodemographic features, patients with clinical features and scale scores. We've detected Hamilton Depression Scale has a relationship with CGI scores and the number of attacks; BMI has a relationship with the patient's age and the age of onset of illness. Consequently no relationship of BDNF and CREB with major depression has been identified.
