Abstract (EN)

In the first chapter of tihs work, product development methods and what is the concept concurrent engineering, why the emergence, history, what is targeted with concurrent and traditional(sequential) engineering and referred to being associated with lean manufacturing. In the second chapter, which is one of the concurrent engineering design methods Design For Assembly (DFA), the overall structure of methods, explained advantages and disadvantages, application types and examples are described in detail. In the last part of this section, design criteria of DFA are listed together with examples. What kind of businesses providing benefits, what should be done to achieve these benefits and covers technologies that support concurrent engineering. In the third chapter, taking into consideration of Boothroyd&Dewhurst DFA Method and Hitachi DFA Method, using the top cover groups of pallet which is used in harness (cable network) systems that is an important arm of automotive supply industry. The applications have been done and some parts or some subassemblies has been redesigned using Catia V5 R18 as 3D CAD software and the applications have been compared with each other. In the fourth and final chapter, in the light of the results, method of DFA criterias have been discussed and during the product design process, the positive effects of using these methods have been mentioned.
