Prevalance of using cigarette, alcohol and substance among high school students in Malatya city, Battalgazi and Yeşilyurt districts which are belong to Malatya and factors affected them

Aim: The aim of this study is to investigate the prevalance of using cigarette, alcohol and substance and research reletionship between risk factories and substance using among students who go to high school in Battalgazi and Yeşilyurt which are districts of Malatya city. Material and Method: This cross-sectional study has made in different high schools and 36 classrooms on the 975 persons by using survey form in every classroom, has explained general knowledges about survey forms and explained how to perform the survey forms. İn the analyzing of data, SPSS 22 program was used. İn the statistical analyzing of data, chi square test, Kruskal Wallis test, Mann Whitney-U test and logit analysis were used. İn the all evaluations p<0.05 accepted as a significiant value. Results: The lifetime prevalance of cigarette using found 34%, the lifetime prevalance of alcohol using found 14.3%, and the lifetime prevalance of substance using found 4.2% among students participating in the survey. The prevalance of cigarette using among students who go to high school class-1, class-2, class-3 and class-4 was found respectively 25.2%, 33.5%, 29.8% and 45.9%. Students who have alcohol using in their families, have used alcohol by 70%, students who have not alcohol using in their families, have used alcohol by 10.6%. 25.8% of students who have used alcohol, take the first alcohol at the 13 age or under 13 age. 34.3% of students who have used substance, take the first substance at the 13 age or under 13 age. Conclusion: Students used substances significiantly high, if there are alcohol and sustance using their families and social environment. Being using substances between students's father, mother abd friends are important risk factors for students's substance using. Fort this reason it must take prevention measures in the family, at the school and in the street.
