Socio-demographic properties of employees working in rainbow trout facilities in Malatya

Abstract (EN)

This study was carried out to determine the socio-demographic characteristics of rainbow trout farms in Malatya province. In 2018, 33 rainbow trout farms registered to Malatya Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry were carried out. According to the results obtained from the surveys, the majority of the employees in the aquaculture facilities are male and the age ranges are generally between 30-39 years and constitute 50% of all employees. When we look at their marital status again, it is seen that the majority of them are married. Single staff members are usually people who live with their families. It has been determined that more than 50% of the personnel working in the facilities have 4 or 5 children. It is seen that 41% of the employees are primary school graduates and has got low education level. According to the results of the survey studies, it is stated that the majority of the personnel working in the facilities have social rights. They stated that 66% of the employees worked in this profession for more than 41 years and the reason for choosing the profession was mostly family profession. Although the income level of the personnel working in the facilities is above 1500 TL on average, it has been determined that the majority of the staffs have got their own home.
