Abstract (EN)
Livestock sector is important in the agricultural sector because of to provide proteins which important for humanity and that are not obtainable from other sources, and also to be a balanced source of income for countryside. Following the Decisions of January 24, 1980 severe decreases were seen in the number of animals in Turkey. So that detected the number of sheep and goats there has been a decline in the total of 2017 compared to 1961, and the number of cattle increased very little. Poultry sector in the livestock sector in Turkey has been the only sector which registered significant growth in the years 1961-2017. But despite the decline in the number of animals in the country, recording large conversions in the productivity field provided overall increase in production of animal products. Malatya has not been able to use its potential in comparison with the provinces in its region. Especially bad values in the area of small livestock have attracted attention. Malatya province, the livestock sectors in which the only one is successful activity is the production of chicken meat. Malatya province has been seen can become a leader in chicken meat production with considering the need in the region and investments in this area. Very serious problems have been identified at overall in Turkey's agricultural sector. A serious agricultural reform is essential for the country to fully utilize its potential.
