Abstract (EN)
Human has been in a relationship with its environment since its existence. As a natural consequence of this, plants have taken place in human life with various functions. In this thesis study, which was prepared by using field research methods, the application areas of plants in folk culture and the purposes were tried to be determined in Malatya-center. In the study, interview, observation and survey methods were used. In this thesis consisting of two parts, 52 people residing in the city center of Malatya were interviewed and their knowledge on the subject was recorded. Necessary explanations about the research and research area are given at the beginning of the study. In the first part of the study, under the title of "Conceptual Framework", after giving information about the development of folklore, the human-nature relationship and the place and importance of plants in Turkish folk culture were discussed in order to better understand the subject. The second part of the study consists of findings and discussion. Materials obtained in the research area; transition periods, folk medicine, folk belief, folk cosmetics, folk cuisine, folk literature are discussed in the relevant areas. It has been tried to explain the historical, religious and mythological origins of folklore, which was determined by using various sources.
