Abstract (EN)

This dissertation aims to depict the foundation, development, the instant and posterior position of the industry transactions and their location in the city of Malatya. With a limited small-scaled home production industry ,the city which was far beyond the positive-effects of the developed countries in pre-republic era launched its industry boom in the late 1930's with state-based enterprise. And in 1950's and 60's the private-sector (in different enterprises) had an important role for an all-out development in industry. This bilateral industry continued in 1960's and 70' until the private-sector prevailed the whole production in 1980's. Especially the foundation of the First-Organized Industry Plant in Malatya could be considered a climax in the process in 1988. According to the records of the year of 2010 of Malatya Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the manufacture industry has an important role in economy in nearly 900 plants. In addition to main sectors of food and textiles the other blossoming sectors caused accumulations in industries. Especially the expertized and challenging apricoat process plants in Food industry and integrated firms in Textiles set the bar higher scales in Malatya economy. Apart from apricot industry and textiles ,the nascent firms in machine, chemistry and other sectors with exports of 10-50 million dollars a year proves that the city-industry is not only based on food and textiles but also other industries. The changing factors on the placement of industry plants in Malatya causes the regional placement changes of industry-sites,OSB's, transmissions and the plants in different sectors. While these changes are making new industrial accumulations ,nevertheless they harm some industry-placements and transmission. In the process on the replacement of the plants, we come across a newly dynamic process about the locations of the plants in the city. Among the cities of The Eastern Anatolia Region the over-developed Malatya city clearly differs from the other cities of the region. Especially Malatya with an advantageous location in western cities concerning the scattering, transmission and directions of plants has been developed with investments of lots of firms which are not only investments of state-based and local dynamics but also investments coming from other cities around. The fixation of connections of Malatya in national cities and international countries (raw material, marketing etc.) is important for the hinterland-search of the city. In economic platforms (economic terms) when the cities's challenge is at stake( not the countries's) ,the correct definition ,the pravailance ,the stregths and weaknesses of the city are important for its existence in future. Today when the countries are considered as a chessboard and the cities its components , the cities come to importance more than countries. In conclusion, although this work seems on a city-scaled one on Malatya industry, it can be considered as an anecdote of Turkish industry ,for it is handled with the industry of Turkey and partially in concerning fields with world industry. As a conclussion, whole can not be comprehended or wouldn't be meaningfull without understanding its parts; Only if it is assessed with parts and whole altogether ,the big picture will come to meaning.
