Turkish manav of manavgat: Its folklore and ethnography

In this thesis, by focusing on Manav tribe who gives its name to Manavgat, folkloric and ethnographic features kept alive in the region have been identified and examined from various aspects. In the context of the Manav tribe's giving its name to the region, by using ethnography, by considering the similarities and differences betweeen other Turkish societies and by applying to oral and written sources, the folkloric features in the region have been investigated and obtained data have been clarified through analysis. It has been focused on that Manav tribe is a Turkic tribe, as distinct from other Turkish societies, so that they created a peculiar Manav identity and culture and they adopted a sedentary life earlier, and they gave its name to a town. This thesis aims to identify the identity of Manav tribe of Manavgat on the basis of folklore products, roles in the history and cultural livings of this tribe who settled in Manavgat for the first time.
