Abstract (EN)
ABSTRACTThe roca plants (Eruca Sativa) germinated for eight days were exposed to Mn2+ and2+Fe stresses in changing concentration between 0-5000 M in 16 hours light 8 hours darkconditioned growing chamber. The activities of superoxide dismutase (p<0.05), guaiacolperoxidase (p<0.05) and lipid peroxidation levels were found higher in the roca leavesstressed with manganese toxicity than the control group, but ascorbate peroxidase activitywas lower. A decrease in chlorophyll content in the leaves was detected according to theincreased manganese concentration (p<0.01). Brownish spots were noticed on roca leavesafter six days applied stress, and decreases in relative growing rate and body length(leave+stem). An increase in activities of superoxide dismutase (p<0.05), ascorbate peroxidase(p<0.05) guaiacol peroxidase (p<).05) and lipid peroxidation levels (p<0.05) was observed inthe roca rots exposed to manganese toxicity between 3.45-5000 M concentration range inaccordance with manganese toxicity after 15 days treatment period. When the plant growthparameters were investigated, a decrease was observed in rots length of roca plant with theincreased concentration of manganese. After 15 days period, an increase in activities of superoxide dismutase (p<0.01),guaiacol peroxidase (p<0.01) and lipid peroxidation levels (p<0.05) and a decrease in activityof ascorbate peroxidase (p<0.05) and content of chlorophyll were detected in the roca leavesexposed to manganese deficiency between 0-3.45 M concentration rang at the end of 15days when it was compared with the control group. A decrease of 2.15% in relative growthrate and 10% in body length (leaves + stem) was observed when the roca leaves exposed tomanganese deficiency for 6 days.A significant increase in the activities of superoxide dismutase (p<0.01), ascorbateperoxidase (p<0.05), guaiacol peroxidase (p<0.05) and lipid peroxidation levels wasobserved in the roca leaves exposed to Fe2+ toxicity at the end of 15 days when it wascompared with the control group. A decrease in content of chlorophyll (p<0.05) was detectedin 15 days treatment periods in accordance with iron concentration. In 6 days period adecrease in relative growth rate and body length (leaves+stem) was observed. In the roca rots stressed with the increased Fe2+ concentration, an increase in theactivities of superoxide dismutase (p<0.01), guaiacol peroxidase (p<0.05) and lipidperoxidation levels and a decrease in activity of ascorbate peroxidase (p<0.05) weredetected when it was compared with the control group. A decrease in length of the roca plantrots and branches in rots were detected when it was compared with the control groups. An increase in the levels of superoxide dismutase (p<0.05) and lipid peroksidasyonbut a decrease in the activities of ascorbate peroxidase and guaiacol peroxidase wereobserved in roca leaves exposed to Fe2+ deficiency between 0-34.7 M concentration rangefor 15 days when it was compared with the control group. A decrease of 31% in totalchlorophyll content (p<0.01) was detected in roca leaves exposed to iron deficiency when itwas compared to the control group. According to decreasing iron concentration, a yellowishcolour and a decrease of 15% in growing parameters were detected after 6 days.Key Words. Antioxidan enzymes, lipid peroxidation, metal stress, oxidative stress, roca(Eruca sativa).
