Türkiye'de gündelik hayatta milliyetçiliğin tezahürleri

The objective of this work is to stage the manifestations of nationalism that are rooted in everyday life and are reproduced by ordinary people themselves. The effect of nationalism, contrary to expectations, is not diminished by changes in socio-economic achievements during the past twenty years. Instead it was able to adapt to ¨the changing world¨ by adopting these changes. In this study based on theories of nationalism that seek to understand the meaning of the latter among ordinary people the reasons for the popularity of informal nationalist narratives were analyzed through the changes experienced in the world since 1989.In the second part of the study, trying to describe the influences of changes taking place in the world on Turkey and that are specific to Turkey, the main nationalist informal discourses existing in this country are analyzed. Nationalism in the 21st century is not only reproduced and disseminated by the State or by private groups and parties but by the media and ordinary people themselves.In the third part, the interviews were conducted to understand the national sentiment among some ordinary people, urban youth belonging to the middle class. The overall objective of this thesis is to focus on mini processes of everyday life that allow the reproduction and thus the naturalization of national belonging and trying to achieve this goal, conceptualize the characteristics of the nationalist discourse of young of Istanbul, well educated, and belonging to the middle class.
