The research of the consumption process of manipulative texts in the context of post-truth: Sample of Syrian immigrants

This study concern with the relations between the individual, social, ideological conditions of social media users and their approach to manipulative texts about Syrian immigrants. In this context, the relations between the processes of manipular texts' fabrication and consumption, are exemined as part of "post-truth" approach, and so, finding about the role of personal and public feelings and beliefs against to facts are study. To search this relations, multiple case study is used as method. To research the fabricating process of manipulative texts, 6 manipulative social media texts about Syrian immigrants are analysed with the Critical Discourse Analysis, within Teun van Dijk's approach. To research the consumption of the manipulative texts, an depth-interview text is prepared by way of the Discourse Analysis results and 50 social media users are interviewed with this text. Within the frame of findings, the relations between the individual, social, ideological approach of interviewers about the themes of the manipulative texts and their estimates of manipulative texts are studied in the qualitative paradigm. As a results, the study shows that, interviewers's problems on a individual scale in their daily life and the ideological polarizations of the interviewers about the theme of the manipulative texts have strong effects on their estimatings of the manipulative texts about Syrian immigrants.
