Özet (EN)

ABSTRACTWhen we have a look on the history of thermal waters, we can see the importance inhuman health, and there are various usage areas attracting attention such as developing beautyand health. Today, people are still taking the advantage of thermal waters. Thus it is necessaryto examine and put forward their biological structure in a scientific point of view.Although, thermal waters remain in a stable condition though in a period of a year, theycontain extreme conditions for the living things. Those conditions attract attention in biologicalscience. This research aims to determine the correlation between the distribution of Blue-GreenAlgae?s, and the thermal water heat in Manisa province. Also it intends to utilize the physicaland chemical properties of thermal waters, to put forward a comment on water quality. In this study, samples are gathered from 12 stations in 5 different thermal springs inManisa and its surrounding area in a period of 12 months. Those stations were chosenconsidering their health-beneficial and economical properties. As a result of the samplingoperation, totally 25 species are determined classified under 4 ordo, and 7 family in the group ofBlue-Green Algae?s. 6 of those species are recent recordings in waters on Turkey. Those newlyrecordings species in our waters are named as: Oscillatoria proteus Skuja, Oscillatoriacalcuttensis Biswas, Phormidium chlorinum (Kützing) Umezaki ve Watanabe, Phormidium willei(N. L. Gardner) Anagnostidis ve Komarek, Mastigocladus cf. laminosus Cohn, Gloeocapsaquaternata (Brébisson) Kützing.Characteristics and living conditions of these species are considered comparatively.Furthermore, contribution to the algae flora of our country and the world is purposed bydetermining the Blue-Green Algae?s spreading in those thermal waters. Keywords: Algae, Thermal water, Manisa, Blue-Green Algae, Taxonomy
