Analysis of Manuel de Falla's Siete Canciones Populares Españolas

Spain consists of many regions. Each of the regions is home to different musical forms and diversifies the music of Spain. The forms that we encounter mostly in Flamenco music continued their development in Spain. All of them have certain characteristic features. Later, its general characteristics were slightly differentiated, and it began to take its place in the classical music repertoire with the work of composers who lived in that period in the 1800s and belonged to the Spanish Nationalist movement. In the classical guitar repertoire, the works of nationalist composers such as Joaquin Turina, Manuel de Falla, Enrique Granados were transcribed by guitar composers and included in the guitar repertoire. Manuel de Falla is a composer from the Spanish School. His work named Siete Canciones Populares Españolas, which he composed in 1914, forms the basis of this thesis. Consisting of 7 parts, this work represents 7 regions of Spain. The original piano-vocal piece was transcribed as a guitar-vocal by Emilio Pujol ve Miguel Llobet as a result of a collaborative work. The study, which consist of 3 parts, sheds light on the beginning of Spanish music in general terms in the introduction part. In the first part, the life and works of the composer are discussed, in the second part, the musical style and the situations that are effective in the formation of this style are mentioned. In the third part, the analysis of the work was made and the differences between it and the piano version were tried to be revealed.
