Özet (EN)

Nowadays, parts used especially in aerospace, automotive and medical industries need to be manufactured with high precision. Parts need to fine finishing process to meet geometrical tolerances, accuracies and surface topography. Traditional manufacturing processes cannot satisfy the present demand for high precision surfaces. Therefore, nontraditional manufacturing processes are needed. Magnetic Abrasive Finishing (MAF) is one of the non-traditional methods in which fine surfaces can be obtained via magnetic field and magnetic abrasives. This study investigates the machinability of interior surfaces of AISI 304 L austenitic stainless steel which is widely used in industries, by MAF. In this study, effects of process parameters such as ferrous particle size, abrasive particle size, finishing time, number of revolutions of workpiece and percentage of abrasives on process responses namely surface roughness (Ra) and material removal rate (MRR) was investigated. The first chapter of the study, there is an introduction about subject and general information about abrasive finishing techniques is given in the second chapter. MAF is presented in the third chapter. In the fourth chapter of the study, the importance and the place of the study is emphasized. Experimental techniques is given in the fifth chapter, in the sixth chapter relation between responses of the experiments and process parameters discussed. General results are given in the 7th chapter. In the last chapter of the study, suggestions for the future works are presented.
