Abstract (EN)

In this thesis study on the effect of carbonized tea plant wastes on carbothermic reduction of magnetite ore concentrate, it was aimed to obtain iron grains by using iron ore obtained from Elazığ Keban and tea wastes obtained from Rize-Çaykur facilities. In the first phase of the work, the carbonization of the tea plant wastes obtained from the Rize-Çaykur facilities was carried out. Carbonized products containing 49,15% C, 0,39% S were treated with 1440 minutes at 800 oC, resulting in 94.68% C and 0.03% S carbonized product. The calorific value of this product is 8823 cal/g as measured. In the second phase of the work, cold curing composite pellet production was carried out. As a result, it was found that the most suitable value of the pellets produced by using 10% molasses of 60% molasses solution as a binder was 180 N/pellet as a result of drying for 180 minutes at 150 °C. At the final stage of the work, the composite pellet samples prepared as (CaO+MgO)/(〖SiO〗_2+〖Al〗_2 O_3 )=1, and stoichiometric ratios of 1/2, 1 and 2 were subjected to reduction and melting for 5, 10 and 15 minutes at 1200, 1300, 1350, 1400 and 1450 °C. It was determined that the product obtained at 1200 oC temperature contained 81-86% Fe and was DRI. Experiments carried out at 1300 and 1350 °C revealed that the samples obtained were Fe, FeO and C as well as Ca, Al and Si, that the metal-slag separation was not complete and that the obtained product had a TDRI property. Experiments carried out at 1400 oC showed that large amounts of iron grains were obtained, and in the analyzes made, the slag-metal separation was almost complete and the metallic iron content reached 96.30%. In experiments at 1450 oC, the slag and iron particles were completely separated from each other. Obtained iron granules were produced in pebble-like structure and high visible density. The pellets produced from Fe/C = 3/8 were treated at 1450 °C for 15 minutes and the metallic iron was measured as 97.10% Fe.
