Margaret Atwood'un Handmaid's Tale ve İnci Aral'ın Hiçbir Aşk Hiçbir Ölüm'ün feminist eleştirel analizi

The novels entitled "The Handmaid's Tale" (1985), penned by the esteemed Canadian author Margaret Atwood, and "Hiçbir Aşk, Hiçbir Ölüm" (1997), authored by the notable Turkish writer İnci Aral, serve as exemplary instances of heterogeneous narrative works with distinct "female" voices. These literary masterpieces illuminate the multifaceted conditions and societal roles pertaining to womanhood, originating from contrasting social, cultural, and political contexts. They delve into the attitudes and responses of women towards oppressive authoritative regimes and the constricting frameworks imposed upon them. The social constructs of gender prevalent across diverse regions of the globe effectively hinder women from attaining personal autonomy. Within the confines of these two novels, women are portrayed as undertaking either successful or unsuccessful endeavors to reclaim their identities, which have been systematically denied for centuries by discriminatory patriarchal systems. Subjected to political, religious, and cultural norms and conventions, women find themselves severely limited in terms of agency, decision-making capabilities, and opportunities for participation in society. This dire circumstance persists due to the perpetuation of traditional gender roles enforced by patriarchal forces. The fundamental human quest for love and acceptance, sexuality, passion, betrayal, ignorance, indifference, subjugation, disobedience, and rebellion are among the multifarious themes and facets addressed within the boundaries of the social structure to which women are subjected in both narratives. Moreover, these novels adopt second-wave feminist perspectives to dissect and evaluate the extent to which female characters are liberated from their shackles during their relentless pursuit of identity.
