Abstract (EN)

This study aimed to determine the temperature and humidity regimes used in the classification of soils according to Soil Taxonomy in provinces and districts that have different geographical characteristics, climatic characteristics, ecological characteristics and land uses in the Marmara Region. The aim of the study is to prove that the general analysis is insufficient in soil classification in the Marmara Region and that the analysis on the basis of districts will provide more accurate results. For this purpose, long-term temperature, evaporation and precipitation data were used. The study was carried out with the data of 47 meteorological stations belonging to 11 provinces and districts in the Marmara Region using the Climate Observations Data of the General Directorate of Meteorology. These stations are; Balıkesir (Ayvalık, Bandırma, Burhaniye, Dursunbey, Edremit, Gonen, Manyas), Bilecik (Bozüyük, Bilecik Center, Pazaryeri, Söğüt), Bursa (İnegöl, İznik, Gemlik, Karacabey, Keleş, Mustafakemalpaşa, Osmangazi, Yenişehir), Çanakkale (Biga, Bozcaada, Gökçeada, Çanakkale Center), Edirne (Enez, Ipsala, Uzunköprü), Istanbul (Şile, Çekmeköy, Bakırköy, Kadıköy, Sarıyer), Kırklareli (Babaeski, Lüleburgaz, Vize), Kocaeli (Gebze, Gölcük, İzmit), Sakarya (Adapazarı, Geyve, Karasu, Pamukova), Tekirdağ (Çerkezköy, Çorlu, Malkara, Süleymanpaşa) and Yalova (Çınarcık, Yalova Center). In the classification of soil temperature regimes, it was determined that 37 districts had "Thermic" regime and 10 districts had "Mesic" regime. In addition, as a result of the examination of soil moisture regimes, it was determined that 19 districts have "Xeric" moisture regime. This study is aimed to be used as a basic data source in future land use planning and decision processes in the Marmara Region.
