The problems and the activities of daily living of the elderly living in Marmaris

The aim of this descriptive study is to determine the level of dependence of on daily living activities and the problems of elderly aged 65 or over living in theirhomes and nursing homes in different socioeconomic levels in Marmaris. A total of 152 elderly people living in nursing homes and their own homes in Marmaris were included in the study. In the sample group "random sampling"method was used.Survey data collection was used.The data were collected byindividual interviews. Then, the collected data were entered into SPSS 18.0 program and percentage and chi-square test were used for evaluation. Data showed that the elderly individuals do not have housing problems ,their health conditions are determined to be medium and medium-high and they have good relations with the environment. They are able to continue their nutrition and eating independently at the highest rate.The more they need is the help for transportation and shopping in their instrumental daily living activities Keyw Words: Elderly, Activities, of Daily, Marmaris
