Abstract (EN)
In this study, mineralogical mapping of the crater of Jezero Crater located in the Isidis Planitia region of the planet Mars was performed with the remote sensing data obtained from the Compact Reconnaissance Imaging Spectrometer (CRISM) instrument on the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO). Crism is the hyperspectral remote sensing sensor covering the visible to short wave infrared wavelength ranges. In this study, it is aimed to make mineral mapping of Jezero Crater using remote sensing methods (band proportioning, decorrelation stretching, principal component analysis and Crosta techniques). Ferric oxide, magnetite, dolomite, hornblende, quartz, pyroxene olivine, magnesium sulfate, goethite, diaspore minerals were mapped in the study area. In the study, band proportioning technique was chosen to minimize the effect of atmospheric and topographic conditions for mineral mapping. Furthermore, Crosta technique were utilized to detect the same minerals, then the results of two techniques were compared. In addition to these analyses, decoration stretching processes for various band combinations were also performed. The obtained results show that it is possible to make mineral mapping for terrestrial planets with multispectral and hyperspectral data sets in the visible-short wave infrared wavelength range.
