Abstract (EN)

In this study, a meta-analysis study was conducted to investigate the effect of the use of smart board on students' academic achievement in the teaching of mathematics and science. In this meta-analysis research, 35 studies carried out between 2008-2018 were analyzed and 25 studies suitable for inclusion criteria were combined with the meta-analysis method. A total number of 1771 students, 878 being control group, 893 being experimental group constitute the sample of the 25 studies. Comprehensive Meta-Analysis 2.2 statistics program was utilized while conducting meta analytical analyses. Because of the heterogeneous structure, random effects model was used while combining the studies. At the end of the current research, the effect size of the smart board usage on students' achievement in mathematics and science was found as 0.807. According to the classification, this rate is a large impact size. The research leads to conclusion that usage of smart boards has a large and positive impact on improving students' academic achievement. While the effect size to the academic achievement varies according to the sample group, it does not vary with respect to publication type, publication year, sample size, the geographic region in which the research was conducted, the duration of the research and disciplinary areas. Based on the overall results, recommendations to the researchers and practice have been given proposed.
